Beaver Brand Honey Mustard Fried Chicken Sandwich

Ingredients

  • 1lb chicken breasts
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup Beaver Brand Honey Mustard
  • 2 tbsp cayenne pepper, divided
  • 2  tbsp paprika, divided
  • 2 tbsp garlic powder, divided
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • Vegetable oil
  • Sweet Hawaiian rolls, brioche, or hamburger buns
  • Toppings: shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes, provolone cheese, pickles

Sauce

Instructions

  1. Clean chicken breasts, pat dry, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  2. In a large bowl, combine Beaver Brand Honey Mustard with 1 tbsp each of
    cayenne pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and buttermilk and whisk until smooth.
  3. Place chicken in the buttermilk mixture and marinate for at least 2 hours (up to 24 hours).
  4. In a gallon-size plastic bag, combine flour and 1 tbsp each of cayenne pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
  5. Heat vegetable oil (about 1-inch worth) in a cast-iron skillet until it reaches 350 to 375 degrees.
  6. One at a time, transfer chicken from the buttermilk marinade into the bag of flour. Shake until evenly coated.
  7. Now you’re ready to fry! Shake off the excess coating and place the chicken into the hot cast-iron skillet. You should hear a sizzle.
  8. Cook for 10-15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown or until internal temperature reaches 165.
  9. Rest the chicken on a paper towel or wire rack.
  10. Combine all sauce ingredients and mix until smooth.
  11. Coat the inside of the top and bottom buns with sauce, then build your sandwich with desired toppings and drizzle with more sauce.
  12. Enjoy!
