Beaver Brand Honey Mustard Fried Chicken Sandwich
Ingredients
- 1lb chicken breasts
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup Beaver Brand Honey Mustard
- 2 tbsp cayenne pepper, divided
- 2 tbsp paprika, divided
- 2 tbsp garlic powder, divided
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- Vegetable oil
- Sweet Hawaiian rolls, brioche, or hamburger buns
- Toppings: shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes, provolone cheese, pickles
Sauce
- 1/3 cup Beaver Brand Honey Mustard
- 1/4 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Clean chicken breasts, pat dry, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
- In a large bowl, combine Beaver Brand Honey Mustard with 1 tbsp each of
cayenne pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and buttermilk and whisk until smooth. - Place chicken in the buttermilk mixture and marinate for at least 2 hours (up to 24 hours).
- In a gallon-size plastic bag, combine flour and 1 tbsp each of cayenne pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
- Heat vegetable oil (about 1-inch worth) in a cast-iron skillet until it reaches 350 to 375 degrees.
- One at a time, transfer chicken from the buttermilk marinade into the bag of flour. Shake until evenly coated.
- Now you’re ready to fry! Shake off the excess coating and place the chicken into the hot cast-iron skillet. You should hear a sizzle.
- Cook for 10-15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown or until internal temperature reaches 165.
- Rest the chicken on a paper towel or wire rack.
- Combine all sauce ingredients and mix until smooth.
- Coat the inside of the top and bottom buns with sauce, then build your sandwich with desired toppings and drizzle with more sauce.
